Background

Studying Oriental Painting at Hongik University has been the foundation of my artistic identity, particularly within the philosophy of Sansoohwa (Korean Landscape Painting). I was drawn to the philosophy of Sansoohwa, perceiving landscapes not as objective objects but as nature conceived in the artist's mind. This inspired me to use paper collages to portray modern landscapes and subjectively create a unique pictorial space. I blend traditional principles with contemporary techniques to bridge the gap between tradition and modernity. My art seeks to offer viewers a distinct experience, inviting them to see familiar landscapes through a subjective lens, where the boundaries between the real and the imagined blur and where traditional meets contemporary in harmonious coexistence.
